Dirigibles Are Forever New Release Celebration & Contest!

I am so very, very excited to celebrate the release of Dirigibles Are Forever, my super-sexy Christmas novella set in an alternative Victorian London, filled with adventure, secrets and fun, and a dash of James Bond. The USA Today HEA Blog has called it a “MUST-READ Romance”.

I love this story! It was a blast to write it and Holly and Jack have a special place in my heart. Both of them face difficult decisions and Holly is working hard to find her place in the world. It is not the Victorian London you are used to, but a London where Her Majesty Queen Victoria passed the Equal Rights Act and women can do whatever they want…including being Aether Traffic Controllers;). But Holly no longer believes it is enough. She wants more, but has not yet found what this more is.

TC_DirigiblesAreForever

Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.

Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.

When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.

But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?

Now on to the contests! Yes, plural:). I have two fun contests waiting for your participation.

I am very excited to share with you my latest release Tangled Redemption, book 4 in my Celestial Surrender series. It is a super-sexy Sci-Fi menage and a story that has been on my mind since Miguel walked on to the page in Tangled Shadows, book 1 in the series. It was an adventure to tell Miguel, Sydney and Jayden’s story and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.

When the Feral Vampire strode up to her, a malicious grin curving his thin lips, fangs glistening, Sydney Radnall knew she would never again allow anyone to take her blood. She would die first.

There were three of them. The other two stayed slightly behind, fanning out and blocking the entrance.

Marissa, the young human who had been taken from Parvati at the same time as Sydney, stood beside her. Their shoulders bumped. Marissa’s shook, but she raised her fists as if to fend off the three Vampires with her bare hands.

No way in fucking hell.

Sydney straightened her shoulders, rolled her neck and took a step forward. She smiled.

The lead Feral’s gaze narrowed.

She didn’t give him a chance to respond, but leaped and rammed her knee into his groin. He folded over with a whimper. She grabbed a hunk of his hair and slammed the bottom of her palm into his nose. Cartilage crunched as she jammed the shattered bones into his brain.

Eyes wide he dropped to the floor. Dead.

Sydney panted. She touched the cold synth-metal wall of the spaceship for a second but stopped herself from rubbing her sore hand. The other two Ferals gaped at her. She wanted to smirk, but she’d lost the advantage of surprise.

They recovered and converged on her. Before they had taken even one step the door slid open and Tall, Dark and Dangerous, the man—no, the Vampire—responsible for her kidnapping, strode in.

He appeared to grasp the situation with one look and grabbed the nearest Feral, killing him with a quick twist of the neck. The third attacker froze.

Sydney took a couple of steps back to give herself more room. She would fight to the bitter end.

“Honorable Radnall, what are you planning to do?” His seductive voice slid across her in an inappropriate manner. He was taller than her, something that didn’t happen often. His skin was darkly tanned. Thick dark-brown hair framed his arresting face as if he hadn’t had the opportunity to get it cut for some time. His eyes gave nothing away. With every movement, every inch of his muscular body, he demonstrated he was a warrior.

She had trained with men like him, had been taught by them, but she had never managed to best even one of them.

5Tina Christopher

He crossed his arms before his chest. The final Feral moved against her. Dark and Dangerous gestured and two of the Ferals who had accompanied him grabbed the attacker.

Sydney was not surprised he was the leader. The power of a highly trained warrior and powerful Vampire cloaked him. He raised a brow at her.

Unlike her attackers his eyes were black, not red. The red identified Ferals as Vampires who drained their prey of blood while inducing horror and panic. In one of the few instances of cooperation between the three major species, the Naema Senate, the Vampire Council and the human government had agreed that Ferals were an unacceptable danger. Law enforcement as well as civilians had permission to shoot Ferals on sight without repercussions.

Over the last year or so scattered Feral groups had come together under one leader to smuggle humans as blood slaves, a crime that, if it became public knowledge, would incite another Human-Vampire War. A war far more devastating than the one three centuries ago.

She mirrored his stance. “My parents told me not to talk to strangers.”

His lips quirked. “Miguel Calatrave, at your service, Honorable Radnall.” He gestured to the dead body. “Now, if you would please explain?”

She couldn’t defend herself against his voice. Goose bumps rose in its wake.

Sydney stood even straighter. “They entered with one clear intent. An intent that I won’t allow.”

His nostrils flared, but the flash of rage was gone too quickly for her to be certain. It seemed the Ferals had ignored his orders.

“You will not allow? All right, Honorable Radnall. You have one out of the way. I took care of another. How will you deter anyone from coming in here to drink your or the human’s blood?”

She stared at him. Was he serious? Why would he want her to kill one of his own?

Sydney swallowed and observed the Vampire being held by Calatrave’s men. He’d clenched his jaw. The skin across his face was stretched tight, muscles bulging, making his two keepers struggle to hold him. His red eyes, eyes that proved he had killed humans without compassion, blazed.

She didn’t have much time.

Her chest tightened and she looked back into Calatrave’s jet-black eyes. His expression was impassive.

Her first kill had been self-defense. The next one had to be an execution. The last man she had killed had been a traitor to her country and her planet. A traitor to her species. A traitor to her.

Her husband.

Action, Fun and 80s Music-Guardians of the Galaxy!

I have never been a reader of superhero fiction. It has only been recently, mostly through the Marvel films, that I have learned more. Currently my favourite are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Same as Sabrina I like my heroes working as a team.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet run to the cinema and do so. It is a lot of fun with intriguing characters…

Chris Pratt did a great job playing Star Lord and he doesn’t look too shabby either;). And he has some pretty awesome dance moves…

I love the Avengers and cannot wait for the next movie to come out, but I have to tell you that Star Lord and his team are giving Iron Man, Thor and Captain America a run for their money.

Now onto the delicious part: I went through a phase when I read everything that wasn’t nailed down about the different pantheons Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, Japanese, it didn’t matter. But I got frustrated with their behaviour. The majority of them appear to be selfish and only interested in things that entertain them. It seemed as if the poor human who got involved in one of their ploys had to struggle to stay alive and usually ended up worse than they started;).

Still, that doesn’t mean I cannot enjoy a fine specimen of a God and the delicious actors who play them:

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a safe and happy start to the New Year!

What will 2014 look like for me?

I am hoping to write and publish more books this year than I did in 2013. I have finished DbD and am hoping to send it to my editor in the next couple of weeks. I have the outline for fourth and final book in the Celestial Surrender series and am planning 2 more books in my steampunk world.

I am going to visit a friend in St. Croix…at least I hope I will. It all depends on the timely arrival of my passport;). I am very much looking forward to sunshine and being at the beach, especially now that Toronto has temperatures of -20C (-4F). Her house is directly on the water. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the passport arrives in time.

I am also planning to attend the Romantic Times convention in May in New Orleans. I have never been before, but it looks like a lot of fun. I’ve been to New Orleans before and I have a few days before the convention starts to do sightseeing. Bring on the beignets;).

In between all that I am looking forward to hanging out with my friends, seeing movies like this (sooo excited!),

spend time with my cat and read 125 books. I discovered today that Laurell K. Hamilton has a new Meredith Gentry book coming in June, A Shiver of Light. It’s been years since a book in that series and I cannot wait.

What about you? Have you got any plans for 2014?

Scared Senseless — Terror, Scooby Doo and Motorcycle Boots

This, MANhandlers, is the photo that launched a thousand ideas. It is my inspiration, my happy and  my favorite photo. Not as explicit as some of the others, but there’s simply something about this man that makes me rawr. Enjoy!

I put off this week’s post as long as possible. I’m writing it about an hour before it’s due. I’m normally not such a procrastinator. In fact, I try to have my posts done early so I know they’re up for you to peruse at your leisure. But this time? It’s not that I didn’t want to send out the MANhandler shout out, but I had nothing to offer for the (ahem) meat of the post. We’re discussing favorite horror movies, books, shows, magazines — whatever. I’ve got nothin’.  I blame Halloween.

When I was little, not quite two, my mom dressed me as Raggedy Andy. I was freakin’ adorable. Then she and Dad took me trick or treating. We lived in Sacramento, California. I remember going, being very unsure of myself with the older kids, but people were giving me candy. Once I got that part figured out? I was golden.

We hit a few houses in the neighborhood and then went to The House. The man was dressed as a werewolf — mask, ragged clothes, big paws, scary-ass feet. He was terrifying older kids. Me? I lost my sh…tuff. The man removed his costume and got down on my level, tried to give me candy. Even then, I was nobody’s fool. I’d seen the monster behind the man, thank you very much, and my “Stranger Danger” alert was at DefCon 8 on a scale of 0-5. Dude had a bigass, terrifying creature locked inside him and I was the only one who seemed aware of this tidy little fact.

Things like this tend to leave a mark on a child and shape how she sees the world. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, it created in me a true fear of monsters and mythology and things that go bump in the night. I always had an overactive imagination, but that night has been fodder for a lifetime of I’m-no-chainsaw-wielding-psycho’s-victim-chick-who’s-going-to-trip-in-the-woods-but-thanks mental ramblings that make me cross dark spaces quickly and get the heebie-jeebies when I walk down an unlit hall. So to come up with something like a favorite horror movie? There’s just no such thing as a “favorite.” I’m reduced to choosing between Scooby Doo episodes. Sorry, folks. I yam what I yam.

What about you? Do you love to get the wits scared out of you? Do you thrive on having to change your shorts after a movie? Or are you content to live in well-lit spaces? If so, come sit by me.

A Little 1960’s Love

shutterstock_43873468I’m feeling very warm and fuzzy over this week’s MANhandler photos. Such lovely, lovely arms…and we all know how I feel about arms.

This is, by far, the post that has pushed me farthest from my comfort zone. I’m not a sci-fi reader, so when I had to come up with my favorite droid I’d like to have stop by for a day, I’m ashamed only one thing came to mind: the Jettsons. I know, it’s a little off the wall, but when I think of what I would most want, all I can think of is Rosie. (Sorry, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime — I suck.)

It always fascinated me to see the way we “would” live in the future. As a kid, I was pretty sure Hanna-Barbera was right on the money. Surely there would be boxes in the wall that spit out your favorite foods and we’d get around in funny cars that both hovered, rolled and flew. We’d all have giant dogs that could almost talk and hopping around space would be no more difficult than slapping a goldfish bowl on your head. But most of all, we’d have Rosie.
The Jetsons

Long before the sensual romance covers and my discovery of supremely spicy romance, the idea I could have a robot to do all my chores absolutely set my little heart aflutter. Just thinking about having someone come in and keep my house neat as a pin makes me lightheaded. I could lounge around like Jane and have a perfect figure and perfect hair and zero responsibility. Sure, she was a little saucy, but that was part of her charm. She might mouth off, but she still zoomed around the house getting everything done while Jane lazed the day away.

Imagine my horror when I got married and didn’t get a Rosie as a wedding gift. There were bitter tears, people. Bitter. Tears.

As fiercely sexy as Bumblebee is (shout out to my love of all things Transformers), Rosie is the one who makes me yearn for crazy technological advancements. Forget the flying cars. I want clean socks.

Internet Time Suck – Luv my Pinterest!

I don’t know how I survived without my Pinterest. Does anyone else have this problem? LOL

My pinterest name is janspringer1 and I am a pinterestaholic. There, my deep dark secret is out!

I love pinning pictures onto boards. My favorite is collecting photos with similar color themes. Black Beauty, Sapphire, Emerald, Shades of Chiffon, Gold, Silver, Tiffany Blue and Copper Love, to name just a few of my color boards. My boards include themes such as birdhouses, autumn, leather & latex, man candy, christmas, the walking dead, kiss kiss and bondage, again, to name a few. At last count, if I counted right, I have more than 250 themed boards and I have the pleasure of following 2,700 pinners and am being followed by 1,800 pinners.

For my writing, I find the pictures are an inspiration. They inspire me to get ideas of where a story is going. My heroes and heroines are retrieved from my Man Candy and Heroine boards as well as from whomever is pinning hot looking hunks or interesting women at the time. I use pictures to decorate my heroes and heroines’ rooms in their houses, the cars they drive, bedrooms they make love in and even lovemaking positions.

If I see something I like, I will like it and/or pin it and I am thrilled when someone “likes” one of my pins too.

My Writing Space(s)

Oh! This subject is near and dear to my heart. When I first decided that writing was going to be my full-time career, I began writing literally all over the place.

Peppermint Creek Inn was my first ever finished book. The writing seed burst with this story idea and I began to sketch it out long hand while my dad and I were travelling in Northern Ontario, Canada, on one of our “ghost town” hunting trips to a place called “Jackfish”. (one of the settings in Peppermint Creek Inn)

During this time, my writing space was in the car, in the tent, by the campfire, sitting on picnic tables with the Coleman lantern and yes! even in my kayak during leisurely breaks while floating in lakes and along rivers.

a peppermint creek inn

Then as the story evolved, a trilogy began to emerge. I would think about the trilogy (Kiss Me & Intimate Stranger) while I worked on an apple farm. At night I wrote the ideas in notebooks.

Long hand writing continued at a yoyo pace around temporary office and factory jobs. During down times I went to the cottage up near Minden (no electricity at the cottage). While there, I used my Alpha Smart or wrote long hand while sitting on the lawn chair on our dock during heat waves or lounging in a hammock on a cliff overlooking the lake, and finally during the winter months on cottage visits, I sat indoors beside a cozy antique wood stove or on sunny afternoons outside on a lawn chair on the frozen lake and for company build comfy little fires built on pieces of metal to help prevent the melting ice from killing my fires. Back in civilization, I pounded the keys of my computer or laptop getting all the handwritten information in.

a hero welcome one

A Hero’s Welcome, A Hero Escapes, A Hero Betrayed, A Hero’s Kiss and the first couple of Outlaw Lovers stories where all sketched out long hand in fat notebooks while sitting in my car during cold winter evenings. Why outside? My mom babysat and I escaped the noise into my car, driving down to Lake Ontario, parking in abandoned parks. It was spooky, but it was also fun flipping on the car heater once an hour to punch through the chill and watching my stories emerge. During the days, I would pound the information into my computer at home.

Later, as my writing career took off (thank you to Ellora’s Cave!!!) and sales rocketed, I bought more stories and produced more stories and I was able to buy 4 acres of land in cottage country. I continued writing at the cottage and also commuted back and forth to my piece of paradise land to sit and write while on a hammock with pesky mosquitoes buzzing around my head.

eaglesnest-1

Then I ordered a modular home and had it put onto my property. Outside my house, my writing spaces included a lawn chair with laptop and that same hammock (mentioned above). Inside my new two-bedroom office home, a sunny bedroom with computer was my office.

Edible Delights and Sinderella were outlined during a 4 day power outage following a heat wave while working longhand on my back deck in August 2006.

a edible delights

These days I continue to work in several places. My favorite is a nice quiet room over my garage, where scented candles flicker and bookshelves hold my nearest and dearest paperback books. I still write long hand as ideas pop up. To give my hands a break, sometimes I use Speech Recognition (Dragon Speech) and I have a nice printer and a couple of laptops and a computer now.

But those first few years while starting out writing in the car, are still nearest and dearest to my heart.

Erm… I’m a bad blogger. But GIVEAWAY!

So this morning, something dawned on me.

HOLY CRAP. THERE IS A BLOG CALLED DARKER TEMPTATIONS AND I AM SUPPOSED TO BE POSTING THERE EVERY SO OFTEN. WTF HAPPENED?

So here’s what happened. I got a new phone. And, said new phone is not programmed with the neato little reminders that old phone was. You know, the ones that pinged me every other Friday and said “Hey, Moron, go do your blog.”

So, this is me, grovelling and apologizing. I’m really sorry that I flaked out for a couple of Fridays there. It wasn’t intentional, promise!!

So, since those reminders also told me WHAT I was supposed to blog about, I’m sort of flying blind for this post.

“What? Regina winging it? That’s never happened.” *takes off sarcasm hat*

So, here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to give you guys something free to absolve my guilt. (Hehehehee. Here, kids! I’ll make up for bad parenting by giving you too much stuff.)

I’ll pick one random commenter and send them one FREE ebook! You can pick any of my Ellora’s Cave releases. Here, I’ll just leave you links here in case you want to go ahead and pick out your favorite. 😉 Just click the cover and it’ll take you to the Amazon page.

I’ll run this contest through midnight on Sunday, July 9th. That gives you all weekend to comment! So talk to me below, and tell me how I should punish myself for flaking on my poor Darker Temptations. 🙂
