Best Things about the South

Thank you, Katie, for having me today! I’m so excited about all the recent success and releases you’ve been having! I’m excited, too, to share my debut CAN’T FAKE THIS which comes out Dec. 6th with Loose Id. 9. Pageants are serious business
10. Everything is darlin’ and someone’s heart is always blessed

Darker Temptations 
Casey, great having you on the blog! Can’t Fake This sounds fantastic (and hot!) 😉 I’m from south Louisiana, so yeah, Y’all is a proper noun. I could do without the SEC football, but because I’m oppositional defiant Roll Tide! *laugh* Favorite thing about where I live? Walking into a store and seeing someone you know who asks you “how’s your mama and them?”

Thanks so much for blogging here today, Casey! You have quite a list and hit two of my faves. Pecan pies and Mardi Gras are two wonderful reasons I love living in the South.
Thanks, Katie. Is it sacreligous to not like moon pies though? Living in Mobile, I get to experience Mardi Gras upclose and personal. My favorite is the Knights of Revelry party on Fat Tuesday when all the ladies wear spring suits and fancy hats.
Hate to break it to you but I think it might be a little wrong not to like moon pies, lol. I was crazy trying to grab moon pies at the Mardi Gras parade this year. Since I was pregnant then I think people were afraid of me and let me have them 😉

What I like about northern California is that I’m right in between ocean and beautiful mountains. Whether I want to soak up some sun or run for the hills, neither are out of reach. 🙂

I’m from South Texas so my list isn’t much different from yours…lol. Except we’re “fixin” to do alot of things. Every soft drink is a Coke…what kind? Dr. Pepper. Smiles are long, laughs are hearty, and “y’all” and “gonna” are staple words in our vocabulary. I grew up here, moved to Dallas, moved to Colorado, and then brought my then 5 year old daughter here. She was very “you guys”. First thing I had to teach her was “y’all”. I said, “please don’t say you guys, people will be looking around for guys.”
Kristin ~ Thanks for the kind wishes. It was fun to write. I’ve only visited Cali once and loved it. Had a picture made with my then 5 month old daughter under the Rodeo Drive sign. Perhaps that’s why she is such a fashionista now. LOL

Sharla ~ I can relate to everything you said! I love Texas. I’ve spent a lot of time there and have a great many friends who have proven that no one has more state spirit than Texans.
Hi Casey! Thanks for visiting today. I live in the Pacific NW and love that we have four distinct seasons and know that when you see two deer cross the road, you need to stop and wait for the next three. 🙂
Thanks, Rebecca. I had fun at the Darker Temptations blog! I’ve never gotten up to your neck of the country, but it sounds beautiful. I’m in Mobile, Alabama, which has something in common with Seattle. Mobile has more rainy days but Seattle gets more rain. Or vise versa. I can’t ever remember which is which,but I know we have a 30 minute thunderstorm almost every summer afternoon. Does wonders for the already horrendous humidity!
i was just in a store yesterday. the woman asked, what is your accent, i told her, i was born and raise in ga. but now live 5 miles over tn line. she says, it seems more than that, well me and my daughter has a speech problem, some words are hard as heck to say. i told her, what every one said about my accent, southern britain accent m, she said THATS IT
My southern accent is worse than most so I know how you feel. At lease we talk “purty.” 🙂
