Give Away, Day 2, Sabrina Garie
Hello and welcome to Darker Temptations. I’m excited to a part of this fabulous group of writers. I’m Sabrina and today’s give away is a $10.00 gift card from either Amazon or Barnes and Noble (your choice). Let me introduce myself and then I want to hear about you.
First thing you all need to know about me is that as much as I love to write, I hate to write about myself. So I’ll rely on my virgo practicality and organize.
The Personal Lowdown
I’m a single mother of a nine year old (going on 16) who is the source of my profoundest joy and the greatest exasperation known to man and monster. You may know how that goes. 😉 Exploration is built into my DNA so I tend to be in perpetual motion, having lived in many places—Washington, D.C., Chicago, Boston, Vienna, Austria, Florence, Italy, London, UK to name a few–and visited an awful lot more. That wanderer gene explains my love for books, the paranormal and science fiction—“to go where no one has gone before.” For years of my youth, I wanted to be an astronaut, just to see what’s out there. Stuck on earth, I live out those fantasies by just making it up myself.
My writing
I write paranormal, science fiction, romantica and contemporary. My focus is less on genre and more on characters and the best setting for them to struggle and shine. Strong, kick ass women who have as much pain to work through as the damaged hero they love are my passion as a writer and a reader. Life is hard and I like to see people move beyond their own limits. I have found much of my own inspiration to go further and higher from book heroines and heroes. Writing is my way of giving back to something that has been important to me.
Stuff I Like
- Coffee. I can’t seem to get by without it. I tried to give it up, several times, but…
- Movie nights with pizza, popcorn and beer (or wine) and don’t forget the loved ones.
- Sunday night storms when I am all snuggled up inside.
- Walking down the street eating a coffee ice cream in a sugar cone covered with chocolate sprinkles.
- Scrabble, boggle, banagrams (word games, love word games).
- Lord of the Ring Trilogy, Dr. Who. Star Trek, Disc World, True Blood and the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.
- To quote Crash Davis in the movie Bull Durham “ long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.”

I quit coffee for a little while. In fact, I quit all caffeine drinks for about two months. It felt wrong not to have my coffee early in the morning as I read before work (because I’m a nerd who actually wakes up earlier than they need to in order to read two or three chapters).
I’m an early morning person and that coffee is what gets me out of bed.

One of my favorite things is to share my love of reading a good book with others. When I read a book, I want to talk about it. Since not many people in my life share my passion, I joined the online romance community to meet people with similar interests. And I have to say, I love it!!! Other than books (more of an obsession really), I do love music (especially hair bands and Metallica), crocheting (really need to start doing that again now that summer is ending), and stormy nights listening to the rain and thunder as I go to sleep.

Well, I love a lot of different things – I love a large cup of coffee in the mornings but the doctor has made me give that up temporarily:( I also love chocolate, reading, watching old movies and reading lots of books. Thanks for sharing about yourself.

Lol, I’m a wanderer too and I LOVE Dr Who. Not much of a coffee drinker, tea in all varieties is my poison;). Nothing better than curling up with a great book and a cup of tea.
Have a favorite Dr. Who? I’ll fess up to David Tennant. Although I must admit, Matt Smith does have his appeal.
Lol, I LOVE David. Matt has been good, he’s grown on me, but it will be some time before he’ll replace David in my heart;).
When David T. started, I didn’t think I’d like him. I kept seeing him as Bartie Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter but I stuck in and got completely hooded.
Hi, Sabrina. There are several things I love! Taking my dogs running in the mornings before anyone else is up and a cup of strong coffee. But my favorite thing is to curl up with a good book on a rainy day! Coffee seems to be a theme here! Always nice to find another coffee addict!

That is pretty amazing. I have a cat, the looks I get are mostly disdain. Having said that, when he curls up on my lap or just touches his paw to my arm or leg, the unconditional warmth just flows through.
lol…Gotta love cats!! They are in box all on their own!! I love after-dinner coffee and dessert!!! Of course I need to cut back on the dessert..lol.
Cats are certainly in a box all their own and they know it too. I hear you. Its way too easy to overdose on desserts. My sugar achilles heels are ice cream and pudding.
